The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has advised Media outlets in the Siaya Region to prioritise accrediting their journalists as an initial measure of professional conduct.

The Council convened a stakeholder engagement for media and program managers from Siaya County on enhancing media viability approaches in the region.

MCK Kisumu Regional Coordinator Evans Teddy noted that one of the most successful ways to influence people and raise performance in the workplace is by adopting the mindset of a role model and developing a culture of influencing confidence and positive work synergy among team members.

“To attain predetermined objectives, media organisations must devise appropriate strategies, foster a positive culture, adopt sound operational and journalistic practices, and value employees while establishing sustainable growth mechanisms through value propositioning”, said Mr Teddy during the stakeholder meeting at Siaya County.

He also stated that production of high-quality journalistic work is about quality content, packaging, delivery and ethics while alluding to media viability.

“Media viability models are very deliberate therefore, each media house needs to work towards putting functional structures in place. The absence of adequate, implementable, and realistic structures marks the commencement of failure by the media establishments”, remarked Mr Teddy.

Speaking on behalf of the media houses, Nicholas Midiwo from Radio Mikayi applauded the Council for enhanced collaboration and streamlining of its interventions in responding to the demands of the media sector.

Attendants of the media engagement were drawn from  Dada Radio, Radio Mikayi, Kababa Radio, Lwasi Radio and Radio Tembea.
