Press clubs and associations have been urged to utilise capacity building initiatives to foster media sustainability.
Media Council of Kenya (MCK) Meru Regional Coordinator Jackson Karanja has asked members to use their established platforms to foster professional and ethical journalism.
“The press clubs play a significant role in the media industry. They serve as valuable institutions that contribute to the advancement of journalism”, said Mr Karanja at a meeting with members of the Meru Press Club.
“The clubs play a crucial role in advocating for press freedom, which is the cornerstone of democratic societies. The Council is devoted to building capacities of press clubs through training and workshops”, added Mr Karanja.
Mr Karanja presented the club members with a cheque, as part of the Council’s initiatives to foster media sustainability and viability. He mentioned that the money was meant to assist the club to achieve its targets.
