Nakuru content creators have been urged to prioritise ethical concepts of transparency and objectivity in their content creation.

The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) Nakuru Regional Coordinator Joseph Mecha told Nakuru content creators to embrace accuracy and fairness to monetise their content and enhance sustainability.

He said commitment is crucial in ensuring that the public has access to reliable information and building trust with their followers is vital for long term success in the content creation field.

“Content creators play a crucial role in disseminating information. Accurate reporting is the cornerstone of responsible journalism and content creation. It is your duty to provide your audience with information that is factual and well researched’’, said Mr Mecha during a meeting with content creators in Nakuru.

He encouraged the content creators to seek accreditation from the Council to add credibility to their work, avoid legal issues related to content creation and open doors to valuable training opportunities.

“Accreditation demonstrates commitment to professionalism and adherence to ethical standards. It is not just a badge but a symbol of dedication in upholding the highest journalistic and ethical principles. By aligning yourself with these guidelines you not only enhance your credibility but also protect yourself from legal related issues to content creation’’, remarked Mr Mecha.

Content creator Isaack Manoti underscored the need for more training opportunities for content creators to sharpen their skills and align their content with ethical guidelines.

“Through these trainings we will not only gain knowledge and skills but also produce high-quality content that meets the expectations of our audience”, he said.
