Media houses have been advised to create a powerful brand based on solid value systems while maintaining professional standards.

Media Council of Kenya (MCK) Kisumu Regional Coordinator Evans Teddy has applauded Jabali Radio and TV for their dedication and unwavering effort to make their dream a reality.

He called upon them to embrace teamwork to enable them to attain the organisation’s goals.

“Teamwork plays a vital role in the realisation of the vision and mission upon which the media house was founded”, said Mr Teddy at a mentorship session held at the MCK office in Kisumu.

He expressed the emerging issues in the media landscape and implored them to establish mechanisms that will enable them to sustain themselves while navigating the media industry in the country.

“It is important to create a powerful brand that is rooted in high professional standards and a robust value system”, noted Mr Teddy.

Mr Teddy told officials of the media house to develop both operational and journalistic structures that are implementable.

“Undertaking substantiative research on your primary audience and relevance of your programs is inevitable in realising your value proposition”, he said.

He spoke on the need for close collaboration among journalists working in the media house to enhance their skills and establish work plans that will ensure long-term sustainability.

Jabali Radio Presenter Musa Naviye commended the Council for its efforts in solidifying the media industry, through consistent stakeholder engagements. He mentioned that this will enable them to become a successful media house that values its people, processes and professional standing.
