The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) and Kenya Yearbook Editorial Board (KYEB) have reaffirmed their commitment to leverage on their respective strengths towards the fulfilment of their mandates.
The two organisations have signed a pact that will guide the development and implementation of a multifaceted approach to enhancing communication and media expertise in the country.
The working pact will see the two organisations undertake joint initiatives in several areas including strategic communication, research and data sharing, training, sensitisation, capacity building in communication targeting Government communicators, journalists, media practitioners and the Kenya Yearbook Editorial Board Technical Staff.
MCK CEO David Omwoyo underscored the importance of the MOU in creating a more informed and effective communication ecosystem in Kenya.
"This partnership with the Kenya Yearbook presents a unique opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge of those working across various communication sectors" , he remarked.
"By equipping government communicators, journalists, and media professionals with the latest tools and best practices, we can ensure that Kenyans receive accurate and impactful information."
KYEB CEO Lilian Kimeto echoed Mr Omwoyo’s sentiments, highlighting the value of knowledge exchange.
"The MOU paves the way for a collaborative environment where research findings, publications, and data can be readily shared", she said.
"This fosters a deeper understanding of both government communication strategies and public development initiatives, ultimately benefiting the Kenyan public", She reiterated.
This collaborative effort outlines a series of initiatives aimed at equipping government communicators, journalists and media professionals with enhanced skills and knowledge. The MOU further facilitates the exchange of research and information crucial for effective government communication and public development efforts.
