The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has urged content creators to leverage different media platforms to provide content that resonates with their audiences.

MCK Mombasa Regional Coordinator Maureen Mudi urged Swahili Pot FM content creators, media practitioners and journalists to embrace local content creation.

Ms Mudi highlighted that the Mombasa region currently has a minimum of 12 radio stations and 3 TV stations, adding that these media outlets possess the capability to optimise and enrich local content production through collaborations and creativity.

“There is an abundance of content available, but it is the packaging and distribution that are crucial”, she remarked.

She encouraged Swahili Pot FM to utilise various social media platforms to engage with their audience effectively.

“It is important to tailor your content to meet the needs of your audience. Local content is crucial for ensuring a wide range of programming that resonates with Kenyans, fosters creative expression and promotes our dynamic culture”, she said.

Ms Mudi further elaborated on the distinct roles of the Council and the Communications Authority (CA), particularly in regulating the media space.

The session also saw the scribes taken through the Code of Conduct for the Practice of Journalism in Kenya, highlighting its role as the ethical cornerstone of journalism in the country.
