The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has urged public communications officers to adopt digital communication strategies to cater to the diverse needs of the public.
MCK Director for Media Training and Development Victor Bwire affirmed the importance of county governments in prioritising proactive communication that is effectively packaged and synthesised for public consumption.
“In today’s digital landscape, the demand for effective communication is inevitable. The short attention span of the audiences calls for content that is concise and thoughtfully organised for ease of comprehension”, Mr Bwire said when he addressed a Public Communications Training organised by the Council in Kakamega County.
Mr Bwire highlighted the significance of integrating multimedia strategies in conveying devolution stories, enabling counties to personalise communication.
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa underscored the role of communication in governance, saying communication remains a critical component of governance and enhances the effectiveness of communication teams and the quality of governance.
“This is the era of experiential communication, and communicators need to appreciate the functioning of new media and utilise its potential to reach targeted audiences”, said Governor Barasa.
The Council affirmed its support to collaborate with County Governments to enhance media relations, communication, public participation, and access to information as envisaged by the constitution and corresponding acts.
