The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has highlighted the importance of nurturing a culture that upholds professionalism and excellence in the media industry.
Speaking during a monitoring and evaluation initiative of the industrial placement programme in the Mombasa region, MCK Assistant Director for Curriculum Development and Training Christine Nguku stated that the initiative aimed to assess the internship program and pinpoint areas of improvement and intervention.
“The internship placement program is a flagship initiative that acts as a link between academic learning and practical experience for aspiring journalists”, said Ms Nguku.
MCK Mombasa Regional Coordinator Ms Maureen Mudi asked the media houses to accord the interns a unique platform that allows them to confront and explore the practical challenges and opportunities in the dynamic field of journalism.
“This initiative not only seeks to assess the interns’ performance but also provides valuable insights into their growth and development in the evolving media landscape”, she emphasised.
Station managers and supervisors of the media houses expressed their appreciation for the Council's contribution to cultivating a culture of ongoing learning and professional development in the media industry.
