The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting media expansion and upholding professionalism through strategic partnerships.
MCK Mombasa Regional Coordinator Maureen Mudi emphasised the vital role of media hubs in bringing MCK services closer to journalists and nurturing a conducive working atmosphere.
“Traditional media houses are currently grappling with a range of challenges, including the decline of monetisation models, which has led to closures and workforce reductions. This has left many journalists without proper working spaces”, she said at a meeting with Mvita Member of Parliament Mohammed Machele at the MCK media hub.
Mr Machele expressed his commitment to improving access to information for journalists and content creators, as well as exploring opportunities for digital monetisation.
“One of my key priorities as a leader is to empower the residents of this great county by providing avenues to access quality information”, he stated.
He commended the establishment of media hubs and collaborations with MCK to enhance the quality of journalism in the region.
“This strategic partnership is positioned to make a notable difference in the growth of journalism and content creation in Mombasa County”, he added.
