The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has affirmed its commitment to support new media outlets to uphold journalistic excellence through ethical practice.

MCK Mombasa Regional Coordinator Maureen Mudi said that the growth of media at the grassroots level has aided majorly with the dissemination of information resulting in an engaged community.

“As the media space at the grassroots grows, we are prepared to offer guidance and support in establishing an industry presence. Partnerships are essential for fostering diversity and inclusivity within Kenya’s media landscape”, said Ms Mudi during a meeting with officials from Al-Hajaar TV.

Ms Mudi assured Al-Hajaar TV officials of the Council’s backing, noting the vibrancy and dynamic nature of the media industry in the country.

Al-Hajaar TV CEO Mr Mahmood Mohamed Abdalla expressed interest in working with the Council and sought support for collaboration to enhance media development.

“We are eager to establish ourselves as a reputable source of news and entertainment and seek guidance in navigating Kenya’s media landscape. Our focus is on Islamic content and issues affecting the community”, he said.

Al-Hajaar TV Senior Presenter Mr Hateeb Mohammed stressed the importance of professional practice in the industry noting that it will be at the core of the station’s operations. He added that the station has assembled a competent team of dedicated journalists eager to comply with the set standards.
