The Media Council of Kenya has called on innovators and exhibitors to embrace the use of communication platforms to create awareness about their inventions.
MCK Meru Regional Coordinator Jackson Karanja brought out the critical role of communication platforms in the commercialisation of innovations. He advised participants to seize the opportunities presented to increase their online presence.
“As innovators need to actively engage with the public and leverage communication platforms to tell their stories and explain how their creations can change lives", he said at the Innovation and Exhibition Week at Meru University.
Mr Karanja mentioned that beyond the invention phase, innovators must prioritise informing the public about their products, services and breakthroughs to achieve societal impact.
"The digital age provides numerous opportunities for innovators to amplify their voices. You must create visibility and show the world the value of your work,” he noted.
He further stressed the impact of innovation on societal transformation, urging innovators to think beyond personal or financial gain.
"True innovation transforms society and solves problems. It is important to think about how your work contributes to making the world a better place”, he stated.
Additionally, he encouraged innovators to collaborate with media professionals and public relations experts to design effective communication strategies that resonates with their target audiences.
