The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has highlighted the importance of carving out a niche among government institutions to boost visibility.
MCK CEO David Omwoyo has urged government agencies to integrate strategies aimed at amplifying their visibility while also creating awareness of their mandate.
"Institutions must conduct stakeholder mapping, enabling effective communication with constituents, thus fostering awareness and bolstering brand visibility," stated Mr. Omwoyo during a meeting with officials from the Kenya Yearbook Editorial Board (KYEB).
Mr Omwoyo also observed the value of collaborations among institutions to build brand visibility.
“Institutions must be deliberate in their communication efforts to command the attention they desire. One effective approach is through joint communications”, he said.
He called on the officials to strengthen their communication by leveraging technology to digitise their work thereby reaching a wider scope of their stakeholders. Additionally, he urged the team to make use of online content producers to push their communication.
He further affirmed the Council’s commitment to collaborate with the agency to build on its brand visibility.
KYEB Chair Mr Sande Oyolo noted that the team was on a benchmarking visit to learn from best practices.
“We appreciate how far the Council has come in terms of brand visibility. We are hear to learn, identify areas of opportunities, and how our two organisations can collaborate to build on each other”, he said.
He mentioned that the two organisations will work together to develop a Memorandum of Understanding and review their strategic plan.
KYEB’s CEO Ms Lilian Kimeto expressed her gratitude to the Council saying that the insights from the meeting would be instrumental in identifying areas of improvement.
She said that the collaboration will present an opportunity to deepen friendships and relationships while strengthening communication and branding.
“The MOU will be important in defining our scope of engagement and especially on how to build on each other’s brand”, she said.
