The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) is advocating for stronger, more structured partnerships built on core values to protect and promote media independence.
During a meeting with US Embassy officials at the Council today, MCK CEO David Omwoyo pointed out the difficulty of working with numerous media interest groups and stressed the necessity of established institutions to guarantee journalistic integrity.
"We need structured collaborations to improve journalism and ensure quick responses when necessary," Omwoyo stated.
He also announced a forthcoming review of the Code of Conduct for the Practice of Journalism in Kenya spearheaded by the Council to address evolving challenges within the industry.
The Press Attache and Spokesman for the US Embassy James Hagengruber commended journalism education initiatives as crucial for media development.
The meeting emphasised the importance of innovation, updated policies and strategic partnerships to support a thriving and evolving media landscape
