The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has called on communication and media students to incorporate creativity and innovation in their education.
MCK Meru Regional Coordinator Jackson Karanja argued that creativity and innovation are vital in today’s media landscape, adding that the swift evolution of the media ecosystem requires students to think outside the box to stay abreast.
“In this digital age, the ability to solve problems creatively and come up with innovative solutions is what will distinguish you from the rest”, he said while speaking to students of Meru National Polytechnic.
Mr Karanja students advised the students to explore novel concepts saying that the fate of media rests with those who dare to push boundaries. He also called for digital literacy as a means of integrating technology into communication.
“The future of media is digital, social media and artificial intelligence are some of the tools you can use to shape the way you communicate. As students of media, you must embrace these technologies, master and integrate them into your learning”, he added.
He encouraged students to explore digital platforms noting the dynamic nature of technology. He further emphasised the importance of acquiring such skills to excel in the industry.
“To attain prominence in the media industry, it is imperative to make strategic use of digital platforms that are pivotal in showcasing skills and fostering valuable connections within the industry”, he said.
