The Media Council of Kenya is mandated to document, compile and maintain a register of accredited journalists, foreign journalists, media enterprises and such other related registers as it may consider necessary.

In relation to journalists’ protection and safety, MCK has a register of press freedom violations and has recorded a total of 612 cases since 2013 to date. Here are the highlights:
