The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has urged journalists to adopt the digital revolution to maintain relevance in the evolving media landscape.

MCK Nakuru Regional Coordinator Joseph Mecha told journalists that trainings provide necessary skills to stay abreast with the changing times and to create content that can be monetised.

“The Council remains committed to enhancing the capacity of journalists by ensuring they are well prepared to navigate the digital era”, he said.

Mr Mecha announced the opening of an ultra-modern media and digital hub to be established in Eldoret by the Council to provide journalists with a conducive work environment.

“The Council remains committed to empowering journalists and providing a conducive work environment to support journalists in digital content creation”, he stated.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) trainer Odeo Sirari further emphasised the importance of integrating AI into journalistic practices, saying it can help journalists produce quality content and enhance their work.

“Content creation can greatly benefit from considering AI as a valuable asset and providing tools to curate compelling and dynamic content”, he said.

He also pointed out the influence of digital disruption on revenue streams and the role of AI in effectively handling and manipulating massive data sets.
